My team Captain, Danielle Body decide to get involved with this organization and this Awareness walk because on December 23, 2010, I was diagnosed with Down syndrome. She knew very little about the syndrome and gained a lot of respect for the children, adults and families who live with Down syndrome. She says I have been a blessing and she's glad to have me. She wouldn't have it any other way and that people need to be more aware of Down syndrome and accepting of those who live with it. "You never truly understand anything until you are affected by it!"

The Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society is a 501c3 nonprofit parent-based support organization whose mission is to improve and enrich the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families through support, education & awareness. The Step Up Walk is a vehicle in which we can promote the possibilities that exist in each person with Down syndrome.
