Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society
Buddy Baseball isn't Buddy Baseball without our Buddies!!! Buddies are individuals 12 years of age or older who assist a Buddy Baseball player during the course of a game. We are looking for buddies who can volunteer for one...three...five....or all seven games beginning late March at Woodall Field in Paris.
It is a commitment not to be taken lightly, but one you will be glad you made at the end of the season. Buddies are not coaches, just there to help the player when needed. Some players need more help than others.
For more information, call 903-783-1922 903-783-1922 or e-mail us at info@rrvdss.org. But if you are interested in becoming a buddy, please go ahead and register. We will contact you regarding your involvement.
If you would like the registration form in a paper copy, please download it here for Over 18 and Under 18.

Buddy Baseball is an organized sports program for children with disabilities (physical, mental, delays) from age 5 to 18. The season is Spring 2010 and games are played at Woodall Field in Paris, Texas in affiliation with Dixie Youth Baseball and the Paris Breakfast Optimist Club.
There is a $15 fee for players. Registration is mandatory to play. The season begins in late March/early April. More information on schedules will be available in March. (Normally games are played on Saturday mornings from late March until mid-May.)
Each player is provided with a buddy (a consistent one if necessary) and parents are encouraged to enjoy the game from the sidelines. If a parent is needed by their child on the field, it is allowed, of course. Siblings can be buddies, but must be 12 years of age or older.
A release form must be signed by the parent before the player will be allowed to participate. That form will be available at any time by mail or at the initial team meeting. Teams do not normally have a weekly practice, but that is not necessarily the case for each team. That decision is left up to the coaches.
In-person registration is available on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 10 am until 2 pm at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ in Paris. (on the corner of Loop 286 and Lamar Avenue across from Mirabeau Shopping Center) However, signing up online or by mail is acceptable.
